Could I get a hard copy user manual of a Canon Power Shot SX40 mailed to me. I realize I can get this info online and some from the camera itself. However, it would be very helpful to have a manual. Please advise and if it is possible I will e mail my address or whatever is needed to obtain a manual.

It is such bullshit to sell a $450 camera (Canon SX40) without a paper manual; some of us go where computers are not available to read a CD manual. Canon trying to save a couple of bucks?

I cannot believe there is no hard copy-This is a very bad reputation for Cannon-If you want to print the Users Guide that is 220 pages!!! 1/2 ream of paper and probably buying another ink cartridge after using all your ink to print this off. I will not recommend Cannon to anyone useless they check first for all the items that is needed. I would think a Users Manual would be very important especially to the purchaser.
I am also quite shocked to find no manual in the box. I bought this camera with the full intention of sitting down and studying the manual so I can get the most use from the camera. My laptop does not have a CD drive and when I try and download the online version the page just goes blank. Frustrating to say the least.

I'm so disaponted that there was no manual that I'm about to return the camera. If I knew this I would have not bother buying it. Canon can still save face and print one and mail it to people that purchase the camera. I'm considering retunrning it and going for Fuji or Naikon. this is poor business practice. Do thjey really need to save a couple of bucks and loose a customer ?
I agree no manual. I can't take my computer it is a desk top. And I don'tt want to print it due to using ink and paper. But what features I know on it I like but hmmm no manual to let me know what the other features can do.
My netbook w/usb cd player won't even load the program because the screen resolution isn't good enough. I'll probably get the Canon SX40 "Cheat Sheet" to have all the functions on 2 sides of one laminated sheet.
Wow, sounds like Canon is going the way of the airlines who are making money charging for bags and food.
Canon is trying to make money leaving items out of the box ie hood, manual, not threading the lens for filters, must use some type of adapter and then the filter you want. All of which are "optional" equipment.
Reading these posts, Canon is not doing it's image much good, huh?
Has anyone ask Canon if they sell the manual? Taking 100 odd pages of 8X10 paper with you when you want to use the camera seems a bit much.
Wonder if the person who came up w/this idea is still working for Canon?

Hi, Like most other buyers I was a little miffed to find no manual in the box, but my solution to this is just to copy the the manual to your phone, takes up less room in your pocket or bag, and most modern phones have a reader of some description on them, if not download kobo or kindle easy peasy. Having said that its still not acceptable to not have a decent manual in the box, come on Canon, hows about we send you proof of purchase and you send all us owners a nice new copy of the instruction manual on good old fashioed paper.
