Leica S (Typ 006) Medium Format SLR Digital Camera features a 37.5MP 30x45mm CCD Sensor offers a sensitivity range of ISO 100-1600 and improved noise reduction. The 2 GB buffer memory enables continuous sequences of up to 32 consecutive images in DNG format at full resolution. Other highlights include upgraded autofocus module, 3-inch 920k-dots sRGB color space LCD monitor, CF / SD Dual memory card slots and built-in GPS.

The Leica S equipped with a 30x45mm CCD sensor features 37.5-megapixel resolution offers increased imaging quality and sensor sensitivity. Its lowest sensitivity of ISO 100 allows longer working at maximum aperture in bright conditions, while the highest setting of ISO 1600 ensures perfect exposures under even the difficult lighting conditions.

Leica S camera's 2 GB buffer memory support of transfer rates up to 166 MB/s enables photographers to shoot continuous sequences up to 32 consecutive full resolution images in DNG (RAW) format.

The upgraded autofocus module of Leica S not only increases the speed, but also enhances focusing precision. To ensure that moving subjects remain sharp and can be swiftly tracked, the Leica S features a predictive autofocus. The camera compares past movements of the subject and computes the location of the subject at the time of exposure. The autofocus locks on to this computed point before the shutter release is pressed.

The 3-inch LCD monitor screen offers a high resolution of 920k-dots and cover full sRGB color space, enables bright and clear image viewing and assessment of sharpness, even in adverse lighting conditions.

The intuitive handling concept of the new Leica S gets by with a minimum of control elements. All functions are displayed in a clear and simple layout on the monitor screen and settings are entered with four soft keys and a click wheel. Brand new features of the control concept are a five-way switch in the form of a mini-joystick and an even clearer layout of the user interface.

The Leica S camera's unique dual shutter concept offers photographers the choice of using the camera's fast focal plane shutter or the central shutter of CS-version lenses that allows flash sync at shutter speeds up to 1/1000th of a second.

The Leica S feature a built-in GPS module that can add the geographical positioning data of the exposure location to the Exif data of an image whenever necessary. Local times and time zones are automatically synchronized. With the software provided, every image can be shown on a map and tagged with a location name that can be used to locate the image in the future.
