Because the needs of the advanced amateur varies widely, this CMOS sensor provides a wide ISO range from 100-6400 (extendable up to 25,600 and down to 50) to delivers outstanding levels of detail and tonal range, even in low light situations.
EXPEED 3 image processing engine with 14-bit A/D conversion and excellent signal-to-noise ratio enable images of remarkable quality with low noise and wide dynamic range even at high ISO sensitivities. The 16-bit image processing offers richer colors and tones than ever before, delivering smooth gradations with abundant detail and tone all the way up the scale to pure white, even when shooting in JPEG.
The EXPEED 3 processing system manages all that data with remarkable speed and accuracy, enabling 0.13 seconds start-up time, 0.052 seconds shutter release time lag and up to 5.5 fps continuous shooting at full resolution to capture decisive moments.
The D600 equipped with a newly developed highly sensitive Multi-CAM4800 39-point AF system with wide-area AF coverage delivers fast and precise coverage across the frame. Sensitive down to -1 EV and compatible up to f/8, sharp shots are possible even in challenging light conditions. A variety of AF-modes such as Dynamic-area AF and 3D-tracking maintain focus on even the smallest subjects, however unpredictable their movements may be.
D600 camera's image sensor and its 2,016-pixel RGB sensor provide precise data to the Scene Recognition System, which optimizes exposure, autofocus and white balance immediately before the shutter is released for sharply defined images.
