Ricoh CX6 digital compact camera features a 10.7x (equivalent to 28-300 mm) wide-angle optical zoom lens that achieves even shorter autofocus (AF) times through the introduction of a new AF system. Combining Contrast AF with an AF sensor for continuously measuring the distance between camera and subject, Ricoh's unique hybrid AF system has taken another step forward, the CX6 achieves AF focusing times as fast as 0.1 seconds, you will be sure to capture that fleeting shutter chance.

The CX6 boasts a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor combined with advanced Smooth Imaging Engine IV image processing. Poorly-lit indoor or night scenes are rendered in pure, unblemished quality, as of course are brightly-lit subjects. An output pixel interpolation algorithm residing in dedicated logic circuits in the imaging engine reduces loss of detail in highlights to faithfully recreate high-contrast scenes exactly as they appear to the naked eye.

The image sensor shift image stabilizer function reduces the hand-motion blurring that tends to occur in situations such as telephoto and macro shooting. When blurring is detected, the CMOS sensor automatically compensates by shifting in a direction that eliminates the blur.

CX6's aperture/shutter-speed priority modes enable you to more richly express the atmosphere of the subject, and the snap movie function lets you more easily enjoy shooting movies. A release button especially for movies has also been added, and a wider range of functions (autofocus, zoom, etc.) are available for movie shooting.

With CX6, you can shoot 1280 x 720 HD movies and also record the movie sound in stereo. And the snap movie function is especially for shooting short movies 1 to 60 seconds long. With a photo-shooting style, you can easily create delightful short movies. You can also set the recording time in advance at 3 sec., 5 sec., 10 sec., etc.

With ultra-high-speed continuous shooting, the CX6 shoots 120 images (120 frames/sec.) during an interval of about one second after the shutter release button is pushed, or 120 images (60 frames/sec.) during an interval of about two seconds.

The large, high-resolution LCD monitor of CX6 has a wide viewing angle and high contrast for vivid image reproduction. Providing a comfortable shooting environment, the screen has a fluorine coat to prevent soiling, a hard coat to prevent scratches, and an anti-reflection coat to give excellent visibility even outdoors.
